Pet Partners Project
Canine rabies is still widespread in Asia, Africa, and parts of Latin America, including Mexico, where control of dogs has proven difficult.
Where data is available, there is consistent evidence that between 30 - 60% of the victims of dog bites in canine rabies endemic areas are children under 15 years of age. The majority of these children may not be treated because their exposures go unreported to parents or health officials. In order to reduce the mortality rate in children.
In regions of economic hardship no attention or resources can be spared to care for neglected animals.
This puts children at risk to rabies exposure among other dangers and robs most children of the soft and therapeutic pleasure of caring for a pet.
Children for the most part seem to show natural compassion towards animals. This tragically tempts them to make contact with stray and possibly infected animals.
We are committed to colorful healthy childhood years in less fortunate communities worldwide.
We have also learned that nothing puts a smile on a child’s face faster than a pet yearning to be cuddled.
We have developed initiatives that can make this responsibly possible while working to reduce the mortality rate in children
Our pet partners initiative relies on children in these communities to identify neglected animals so that may be captured, inspected, vaccinated and cared for at our shelters.
The children participate actively in the rehabilitation and care activity, which keeps them off the streets after school and teaches them the importance of personal attention to the environment and its precious creatures.
The advantages of this project are four fold:
- Provides care for neglected animals in communities where such care is otherwise impossible.
- Provides avenue for active participation for children keeping them off the streets with productive after school activity.
- Prevents and keeps in check the spread of animal borne diseases including rabies of which children are the most susceptible.
- Brings color to the life of our young precious beneficiaries, the children.
Your generous contributions help us construct, supply and staff these animal shelters that serve additionally as after-school activity centers for the children.
